Body Image

The influence your environment has on your body image is substantial. Regardless of your gender identity there are many different sets of rules that dictate how you should look.

Further, we all have aspects of our body image or physical functioning that we'd like to improve.

Mental health clinicians have long ago identified the link between
our body image and mental/emotional health
.

Abraham Maslow, Howard Crosby Warren, and Aileen Goodson.

These are but a few of the names in the realm of psychology that have urged individuals to examine their self-image and self-worth by incorporating body image work into their therapy.

Natural State Therapy, Hakomi Mindfulness-Centered Somatic Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Therapy.

All of these modalities offer tools than can assist. Through therapy, you can begin to heal from past criticisms (from others and yourself) and possible abuse and accept who you are without self-shame all while being mindful of any areas you want to improve with a healthy mindset.

Awkward. Raw. Exposed. Embarrassed.

These are natural emotions to experience at the mere thought of discussing your body image with a therapist. Acknowledged!

Here, you will encounter no judgment. No criticism.
Only healing.
